Samsung Galaxy A16 vs A17 Cases: Can You Use the Same Cover?

Samsung Galaxy A16 glitter butterfly phone case used in the Everacs A16 vs A17 compatibility guide

Quick answer: a Samsung Galaxy A16 case should not be assumed to fit a Galaxy A17, and the same goes the other way around. The two phones are very close in size, but a case has to match more than height and width.

If you are standing in a shop with both phones in front of you, you can physically check the fit. When you are ordering a mobile cover online, you do not have that option. That is why the exact model name, camera area, buttons and bottom cutouts matter.

For most buyers, the safest rule is simple: if the seller has not specifically verified one case for both models, buy the cover listed for your exact phone.

Samsung Galaxy A16 vs A17: how close are they?

Very close. Samsung Pakistan lists both phones at 164.4 mm tall and 77.9 mm wide. The listed depth is different: the Galaxy A16 is 7.9 mm deep, while the Galaxy A17 is 7.5 mm.

Phone Official dimensions Weight
Samsung Galaxy A16 164.4 × 77.9 × 7.9 mm 200 g
Samsung Galaxy A17 164.4 × 77.9 × 7.5 mm 190 g

So yes, they look similar on paper. But those numbers alone do not tell us that the same fitted cover works properly on both phones.

Think about it this way: a case does not only wrap around the outside rectangle of the phone. It is shaped around the camera area, corners, side controls, charging port, speaker openings and the front edge. A small difference in any of those areas can be enough to make a case annoying to use—or stop it fitting properly altogether.

Why can two similar-looking Samsung phones need different cases?

This is usually where the confusion comes from. Someone sees two phones with a similar shape, similar screen size and a similar camera layout and assumes the covers must be the same.

Sometimes one case really is made for more than one phone. We sell some cases where cross-model compatibility has been verified. But that needs to be confirmed for the specific case. It should not be guessed from the phone names or dimensions.

1. The camera opening has to land in the right place

The camera cutout is one of the easiest places to spot a mismatch. A case can look almost correct and still sit slightly too high, low or sideways around the camera area.

That matters even more on cases with a raised camera surround because the raised border itself needs to sit around the intended camera area.

2. Side buttons can be slightly off

Many modern cases cover the phone's side buttons rather than leaving them fully exposed. If the moulded button area is not lined up correctly, the button can feel stiff or require more pressure than normal.

3. Charging, speaker and microphone openings matter

The bottom of the case is not decoration. The charging opening and other cutouts need to match the phone. A cover that is only “close enough” can still make charging awkward or partially cover an opening.

We have a separate guide on why camera cutouts, buttons and port openings matter if you want to check a case more closely.

4. The case still has to grip the phone properly

A fitted cover relies on the edges and corners holding the phone securely. Even when height and width match, differences in depth or edge shape can change how tightly a case sits.

That is why we would not call two cases interchangeable just because the phone dimensions look close.

But both phones have a 6.7-inch screen. Doesn't that mean the same cover?

No. Screen size is measured diagonally across the display. It is not a case-compatibility measurement.

Two phones can both be described as 6.7-inch devices and still have different thickness, camera placement, button positioning, corner geometry or body dimensions.

This applies beyond Samsung too. Screen size is useful when comparing displays, but it is not enough to choose a phone case.

Will an A16 case fit an A17?

Only if that particular case has been verified for both models.

Samsung's official dimensions show that the phones are close, but they do not establish that every Galaxy A16 cover fits the Galaxy A17. We therefore would not make a blanket “yes” claim.

If a listing says only Galaxy A16, treat it as an A16 case unless the seller gives reliable compatibility information saying otherwise.

Will an A17 case fit an A16?

The same answer applies in reverse. An A17 case should not automatically be treated as an A16 case.

This matters because people often search the question both ways. The direction does not change the basic rule: verify the exact case, not just the two phone names.

What should you check before ordering an A16 or A17 cover online in Pakistan?

If you are ordering online, take an extra minute before checkout. It is easier than trying to solve a fit problem after the parcel arrives.

  1. Check the exact model in your phone settings. If you are unsure, use Find Your Phone or read our guide to finding your exact phone model.
  2. Read the full listing title. Make sure it actually says Galaxy A16 or Galaxy A17.
  3. Check the compatibility section. If a seller claims one case fits both phones, look for a clear statement rather than assuming from the photos.
  4. Look at the camera area. Compare the product image with your own phone.
  5. Check the selected model/variant before paying. This is especially important on listings that contain more than one phone model.

If the listing is unclear, ask the seller before ordering. A good seller should be able to tell you which model the case is meant for instead of guessing.

A quick way to think about A16 vs A17 case compatibility

Question Practical answer
Are Galaxy A16 and A17 almost the same size? Yes. Samsung lists the same height and width, but different depth.
Does that prove one case fits both? No.
Can one specific case still be made for both? Yes, if that exact case has been verified for both models.
Does the same 6.7-inch screen size prove compatibility? No.
Safest way to order online? Choose the case listed for your exact model unless cross-fit is confirmed.

Common questions people ask about A16 and A17 cases

Are Samsung Galaxy A16 and A17 cases the same?

They should not be treated as the same by default. The phones are close in overall dimensions, but that alone does not prove fitted-case compatibility.

Can I force an A16 cover onto an A17 if it almost fits?

We would not recommend forcing a case onto a phone it was not made for. If it does not sit naturally around the corners, buttons and camera area, use a case intended for the correct model.

Why do some sellers list one cover for more than one phone?

Some cases really are produced for multiple compatible models. That can be legitimate when the physical fit has been verified. The important part is that the seller should clearly state that compatibility instead of assuming it from similar dimensions.

What if a case listing does not say A16 or A17 clearly?

Ask before ordering. If compatibility is uncertain, it is better to confirm the exact model than guess from a photo.

Our approach at Everacs

We try to keep compatibility specific because getting the phone model wrong is one of the easiest ways for an online case order to go wrong.

If we have verified that one case works for more than one model, we can state that. If we have not verified it, we would rather keep the listings separate than make a compatibility claim just because two phones look similar.

That is also why product photos matter. The image should help you recognise the actual case design and camera area you are buying, not show a different-looking product simply because it makes a nicer picture.

Bottom line: the Galaxy A16 and A17 are very similar in size, but similarity is not enough to prove that the same fitted case works on both. Unless a particular cover has been verified for both models, choose the one listed for your exact phone.
