Buying a phone case should be simple, but there is one detail you should always check first: your exact phone model.
Quick answer: On most Android phones, open Settings → About phone and look for the model name or model number. On an iPhone, open Settings → General → About and check Model Name. The wording can vary slightly depending on the phone and software version.
Knowing the exact model matters because phones from the same brand or series can look very similar while using different dimensions, camera layouts, buttons or cutouts. A case should only be considered compatible when it is made or verified for your exact device.
Why should you check your phone model before buying a case?
A phone's brand alone is not enough. Knowing that you have a Samsung, Infinix, Tecno, Xiaomi or iPhone does not tell you which case will fit. Even knowing the general series may not be enough because manufacturers often sell several versions within one family.
Names such as Pro, Pro Max, Plus, Ultra or different generations can indicate a physically different phone. A case made for another version may have a different camera opening, side-button position, charging-port alignment or overall size.
That is why Everacs recommends checking the model displayed by your phone instead of identifying it only from its appearance.
Once you have confirmed the model, you can browse our current phone cases and compare only listings that clearly include your exact device.
What is the easiest way to find your phone model?
For most people, checking the phone's Settings is the best starting point. It does not require an extra app, and it avoids guessing based on the camera design or screen size.
How to check your model on an Android phone
- Open Settings.
- Look for About phone, About device, or a similar device-information section.
- Look for information labelled Model, Model name, or Model number.
The exact menu names can differ between Android manufacturers and software versions. If you cannot find the section, use the search box inside Settings and search for model or About phone.
How to find your Samsung Galaxy model
On a Samsung Galaxy phone, open Settings → About phone. Samsung's support guidance says this screen can display model information along with identifiers such as the serial number and IMEI.
For example, you may see both a familiar Galaxy name and an alphanumeric Samsung model code. When shopping for a case, start with the exact model name. If there is uncertainty between similar models or regional versions, the model number can help confirm which device you actually have.
Privacy tip: hide your IMEI and serial number
Your About phone screen may also contain your IMEI and serial number. Those identify your individual device and are not normally needed simply to choose a phone case.
If you send a screenshot to a seller for compatibility help, crop or cover the IMEI and serial number and leave only the model information visible.
Once you know the model, you can browse Samsung accessories available at Everacs.
How to find your model on an iPhone
On an iPhone, open Settings → General → About and look for Model Name.
Apple also shows a Model Number on this screen. Apple explains that tapping the part number beside Model Number can reveal the device's model-number identifier.
For buying a case, the Model Name is usually the easiest information to use—for example, distinguishing the standard model from a Pro, Plus or Pro Max version. Do not assume two iPhones from the same generation use the same case.
You can also browse Apple accessories after confirming your model.
Model name vs model number vs IMEI
| Information | What it means | Useful when buying a case? |
|---|---|---|
| Model name | The familiar device name customers normally use | Yes — usually the most useful starting point |
| Model number/code | A more specific manufacturer identifier for the device or variant | Yes — useful when the name is unclear |
| Serial number | Identifier assigned to an individual device | Usually no |
| IMEI | Unique identifier associated with a mobile device | Usually no; do not share unless genuinely required |
What if your phone does not turn on?
You still have several ways to identify it. Start with the original phone box. Manufacturers commonly place model information on the packaging label. Your purchase invoice or receipt may also contain the device name.
Depending on the manufacturer and model, identifying information may additionally appear on the phone itself, the SIM-tray area or another physical label. The location varies considerably between devices, so use the manufacturer's official instructions before removing anything from your phone.
Do not attempt to open a sealed phone or remove a non-removable battery just to find its model.
Can you identify a phone just by looking at the cameras?
Sometimes a camera layout can narrow the possibilities, but it should not be your main method when ordering a case.
Several phones can have similar-looking backs while differing in dimensions, button positions or camera-area measurements. A photograph is useful when combined with model information, but visual similarity alone is not proof that two cases are interchangeable.
For the safest purchase, confirm the model in Settings or from reliable manufacturer documentation.
What if the phone shows only a model code?
If your phone displays an alphanumeric code rather than a familiar product name, keep that code. Compare it with the manufacturer's official support information to identify the corresponding model.
When contacting Everacs for compatibility help, sending the model name or model code is much more useful than saying only “Samsung,” “Infinix” or “Tecno.”
Before ordering a phone case: make this quick check
Before adding a case to your cart, compare the exact phone model shown in your Settings with the compatibility information on the product page.
Pay particular attention to words such as Pro, Plus, Ultra, Max and any generation or model-number differences. If the product page does not clearly say that your exact phone is compatible, do not assume it will fit just because the camera design looks similar.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know what phone model I have?
On most Android phones, open Settings → About phone and look for the model name or model number. On an iPhone, open Settings → General → About and check Model Name.
Is the device name the same as the phone model?
Not always. A device name can sometimes be customized, while the manufacturer model information identifies the hardware. When there is any doubt, use the model name or model number shown in the device-information section.
Can I use my IMEI to find my phone model?
An IMEI identifies an individual mobile device, but you generally do not need to share it to buy a phone case. Checking the model name or model number directly is preferable.
Do similar-looking phones use the same case?
Not necessarily. Similar appearance does not guarantee identical dimensions, camera openings, button positions or port placement. Only choose a case whose compatibility has been verified for your model.
What should I send Everacs if I am unsure which case fits?
Send the model name or model number displayed in your phone's Settings. If you send a screenshot of the About phone screen, hide your IMEI and serial number first.
Found your phone model?
Once you know your exact device, browse Everacs by phone brand and model to find accessories for the right device. If your model is not currently listed, contact us with the model name or model number rather than guessing which case might fit.
